A long long time ago, the toads were all the same. One day, the God Sibö entrusted them with an important chore and everything changed. And one curious day, the brightest of them all disappeared…
In this bilingual story (English/Spanish), the golden toad (Incilius periglenes), the species that put Monteverde’s microcosmos on the map, is the center of the tale. It disappeared from human sight for more than 50 years, its existence or extinction is an ongoing debate for experts. The tale is inspired by an indigenous Bribri myth and the mysterious legend of the Golden Toad.
